Qualified Staff are important in a dangerous and noisy environment. We hold NPTC (national proficiency test council) qualifications for chainsaw use and aerial rescue. For larger machinery we hold LANTRA (National Training Organization for the land Based Industries) qualifications.
A Tree Preservation Order (TPO) is legislation that protects specific trees, or groups of trees, on both public and private land.  Any work carried out on a tree with a TPO must be authorised by the local planning authority before it can begin.
Conservation areas cover many different parts of the island including urban areas. Any tree that is 75mm wide at 1.5m above ground will be covered under this legislation and will need a tree planning aplication.
Further information regarding protected trees can be found
on the Isle of Wight council’s website ( ).

Gibson Garden Service will always check for any tree related planning conditions before starting work.
Bird nests are protected by the Wildlife and countryside Act 1981 which covers intentionally take, damage or destroy the nest of any wild bird while it is in use or being built. This is especially important between March and July where the birds are mostly active. If there are active bird nests in the tree or hedge, then work will be postponed until they have left.
